Jorhat Municipal Board, established in 1909, has been serving the residents of Jorhat for over a century. Located at 26°N, 94°E, Jorhat is the second largest city in Assam and was the capital of the Ahom kingdom in 1794. From its humble beginnings with 5 sq km, 15 wards, and 5,000 residents under Chairman Lt. Col. A.K. Playfair, JMB has grown to serve 9 sq km, 19 wards, and over 10 lakh residents.
